While we might still teach our kids about right or wrong, grammar, and manners our children can teach us a thing or two about computers and smartphones. The Wall Street Journal reports six-year-olds knows more about technology than 45 year olds. Six year olds! And 14 and 15 year olds know the most.
Here’s the link to the story on the Wall Street Journal blog website – no “retro” paper needed.
An example of how true this is… here’s a selfie my 14 month old son took this week.
I think he did a pretty good job for his first selfie. On my iPhone he also erases apps, moves apps around (confusing his mama), tries to make phone calls to China, and attempts to login to Netflix. Of course he does this all by accident but what he does do with intent is turn the phone on and get Siri to talk to him. Plus, when he gets a hold of my iPad he gets a bit frustrated when Siri doesn’t say hello.
But even though he loves to walk around with the iPhone and cries when we take it away from him, he still loves his old-fashioned crayons and Wall Street Journal (the paper kind), at least for now…
